Without prior knowledge to the main crew, Ahab's private, mysterious harpooneers prepare to join the whale chase. Led by Fedallah, the enigmatic, turbaned figure, the crew on the deck are initially bemused. Ahab orders the boats lowered as they spot a whale, and despite Ahab's commands, his crew can't help but watch Fedallah's team with curiosity. Starbuck, Stubb, and Flask spread out across the water, with Flask attempting to incite excitement among his men. Stubb's odd manner of addressing his crew both amuses and spurs them.
